This Year In Art....

Our new art year is off to a great start! Following a review of art elements, students will be introduced to many varied artists through time and investigate their works of art to discover materials used, techniques or elements of art (e.g. how lines, shapes, colors, etc. are used in the pieces), and to learn about the artist's place in history and how that may have influenced their art work and the stories they are telling with their work. This years studies of artists and techniques will be incorporated into the art history studies of last year and included in the classroom time-line as a continuation of our studies of art through history. We have large screen projection in the art room now, which will allow art work to be viewed up close and personal! Thanks to an anonymous donor, funds were made available for this wonderful addition to our art program. It's going to be another great art year! Parents, come visit us anytime!!!

Art Show!

The "Old World Arts" exhibition is still going on! Don't miss the opportunity to check out some great works of art done by our elementary students! Printed tour guides are available and located directly under the "Old World Arts" fresco. The exhibit will be on display through May 9th.

Tangrams

Kindergarteners created some wonderful art pictures during our studies about shape! Using the 7 geometric tangram shapes, students designed everything from cats and bunnies to camels and boats! It was fun as well as challenging to use the 7 pieces, like a puzzle, to create the designs. I particularly like their background colors and images! They had to create those first!
